Tips for Playing Hindi Songs on Guitar
Most Bollywood songs are in minor keys — especially Am (A minor) which is one of the most common keys in Hindi film music. Learning Am, C, G, and Em gives you the foundation to play hundreds of Bollywood songs.
Capo tip: Many Hindi songs are recorded in unusual keys for the singer's vocal range. Using a capo (a clamp on the guitar neck) lets you play with open chord shapes in any key. Most songs above are in beginner-friendly shapes — put a capo on fret 1 or 2 to match the original recording key if needed.
Strumming pattern: For most Bollywood romantic songs, a simple Down-Down-Up-Up-Down-Up pattern works well. Once you can strum smoothly, add dynamics (soft verse, louder chorus) to make it sound more musical.
